The appearance of the living being on earth brought the need
to communicate. Without communication the mankind would have never
achieved what is now called "civilization". At the beginning of the
21st century, where information and new technologies play the most
important part, communication has become one of the crucial aspects
of our lives. Throughout the ages the humankind has created lots of
fabulous things, the mobile network being one of the most magnificent.
The technical invention has taken the communication among people to a
new dimension and many previously hard-to-imagine things have become
accessible for everybody. The information society has made a huge
pace forward.
It has been 10 years since the mobile network appeared in Lithuania.
The first one to start providing the NMT - 450 standard mobile network
services was UAB Comliet. At the same time,
on 4 April 1991 the closed joint stock company ANTENA was founded and started to
install mobile network base stations and mount antennae for the first mobile network
operator. Later, UAB Antena started to install cable and radio relay links.
The installation and reconstruction works of base stations for UAB Comliet, as
well as their maintenance, were done on 221 sites.

The gained experience enabled the company to cooperate successfully
with other mobile network operators. In 1995 UAB Nelte,
the newly established nation-wide paging network operator, chose UAB Antena as the
construction contractor for its base stations. The total of 21 base stations were
rapidly designed and constructed for UAB Nelte.
In 1996 UAB Antena started to cooperate with the digital mobile network (GSM - 900)
operator UAB Bite. The company designed and installed
metal constructions for aerial-feeder path as well as built and equipped 42 UAB Bite
base stations countrywide.
